Inside the seemingly innocent photo of Port Adelaide players wearing the club's prison bar jersey in the locker room after their incredible win

The Port Adelaide AFL club has been accused of trolling the league and opposition team Collingwood after their 49-point victory on Saturday.

A seemingly innocent photo shared to the club's Twitter page after the match sparked controversy when it became apparent the players were wearing an old school 'prison bar' guernsey.

Port Adelaide were forbidden from wearing the iconic guernsey during the local match up against the Adelaide Crows after the AFL agreed it was too similar to the Collingwood uniform.

The two teams signed an agreement decades ago when Port first joined the league that they would not wear the guernsey without permission.

Seemingly taking a swipe at the AFL's decision to forbid them from wearing it during the clash, players changed into the guernsey after winning the game to celebrate.

Locker room pictures and videos show the men wearing the black and white stripes while singing the celebratory team song and posing in them for subsequent photos.

Former footballer Garry Lyon said it was clear there was 'a bit of a statement' in the photo.

'They'll have all their photos, they'll have all their media shots done in the rooms in their prison bar jumper,' he said.

While some described the move as 'childish' and that of a 'petulant child after being told no', others said it was a masterstroke of 'ultimate trolling' after a definitive win.
